Sesame Soy Salmon

Toasted Sesame Seed Oil is not the best oil to pan fry with because of it's lower smoke point, but it's the perfect umami flavor for a sesame soy marinade for baked salmon! This Sesame Soy Salmon is so easy, delicious, and perfect for a weeknight meal. 

Sesame Soy Salmon Marinade with Toasted Sesame Seed Oil

Here's what we use to make the marinade:

  • 1/2 cup Toasted Sesame Seed Oil
  • 1/4 cup soy sauce
  • 1-2 fresh garlic cloves, minced
  • 2 tsp ground ginger
  • 2 tsp ground onion powder
  • 1-2 tsp sesame seeds
  • *optional: 2 tbsp of maple syrup or honey

If you like a sweet-savory marinade for your salmon, the addition of the maple syrup or honey is delicious, but it's not necessarily needed if you prefer your salmon on the savory side! 

Instructions:

  1. To make the marinade, simply mix all of the ingredients together in a bowl or dish. 
  2. Place your salmon filets in the bowl or dish and use a spoon to thoroughly cover the filets with the marinade. *To make for easy transfer from the marinade to the pan for baking, we recommend cutting your salmon down to portion sizes before putting the salmon filets in the marinade. 
  3. You can marinate the salmon for anywhere from 30 minutes to 2-3 hours. It really only takes about 30 minutes to 1 hour to marinate salmon effectively, so if you don't have that much time, it will still be delicious. 
  4. Place the marinated salmon on a baking sheet or dish skin side down and bake for 25 minutes at 350 degrees. 

It's that easy! Our favorite way to eat this Sesame Soy Salmon recipe is over rice with a side of green vegetables such as broccoli or brussels sprouts. For an easy sheet pan dinner, throw your chopped broccoli or brussels sprouts on the pan with the salmon to bake for the same amount of time! (Pro tip: Toss your vegetables in Benissimo Roasted Garlic Oil for a one-and-done oil and seasoning!)
